It feels so wierd. I will only be here a few days, then its off to the GOM to finish the project Ive been roped into.
Yeah, the blowout...
The good news is we have a tenuous hold on it, and if history is a guide it will be filled just fine. Of course the seafloor there is mostly sand avalanched off the continental shelf and none too sturdy, but its looking good.
Ive a bit of mud piping and valving yet to do and have to be there the second my window of opportunity opens. Might be as soon as Monday, alas..
Good news is another 60 hour push and my little part of the picture is complete, Im done with it, home for good, or at least til something interesting comes up.
Its been quite a journey, thats for sure...
Things have changed.
How is everyone??
How I look forward to being a part time river bum again, but its been some amazing experiences...

I have been doing well, just working on spreading rare grain seeds to others, and being stuck at my regular job...

Im good, tired, tanned, but feeling good. Ive been so busy, actually beyond busy of late that I have all but stopped sleeping for more than a couple of hours at a time. Now its quiet, and no pressure. Its almost disorienting.. If you spin an Asian 100 times does he become disoriented?? Is Mille still around?? We still need to talk some his story. The peakers still at it hard?? Bet they had a GOM heyday, Ive sure seen some outrageous stories here and there. Matt is doing massages?? Will RGR have an appendage of his choice stimulated?? I will have to offer a new service: Will consult for beer!! Been in some isolated small groups lately, cabin fever is real!! Wind in the trees, there is no place like home. Nothing more pressing than unpack my new fossil crabs and figure where to display them.. It sure smells good, sea and oil gets old fast, and you dont notice how bad it is til its gone..

Welcome back Dennis! You've been gone a long time.
All is relatively well here after a few harrowing months.
Mille posted today for the first time in a long time.

Yes, we were wondering if you were dead, alive, or in jail.
Good to know it's the middle one.

It's been a long time indeed. Harrowing for most, I guess. It almost makes you wonder. After about seven months of complete silence, Mille posts, and bhaaam! the next post on the board is from Dennis. After about seven months of complete silence, no less. When was the last time something like that happened? Ohh ... about seven months ago ... First post of Mille seven months ago (after about two months of silence) was Sunday, December 20, the start of the Holey-Days. First post of Dennis seven months ago (after about two months of silence) was Sunday, January 3, end of said Holey-Days. Hmmm ... Mille and Dennis appearing in synchrony? Does Mille know when Dennis will be here to post just before that? Does Dennis know when Mille will be here to post just after that? Does Mille and Dennis know? Is Mille Dennis? Is Dennis Mille? Is HyStory MyStory? What's ThyStory? --Dr.wen Ph.iloShop

home for good, or at least til something interesting comes up. There's been a lot of chatter about a possible 8+ earthquake in your neck of the woods this weekend and with the way the planets are lined up it could be an interesting weekend indeed

Just got a PM from you, or said it was from you, and I deleted it without opening it because at one point someone suspected your account was hacked and spam was getting into the PM's. So if it was a real PM, resend it and I'll read it this time. I thought you were in prison in Japan!

I was the one getting spam emails from DFO and posted the warning. They contained links (which I did not click on) and no real message.

RGR, it was an PM answering your PM.
I kicked my raft in the Rogue, and have spent the last couple days running round the wilderness barefoot and half naked. Bliss...
Its good to be home, but Im shipping out again, probably tommorrow.
Will be gone 2 weeks max and then Im home for keeps.
I am aware of the Great Celestial Cross and its portents BTW..
Right now the big CME rattled me a bit. No phone, no radio, very little tech of any kind and the Sun seemed "off". Noticeable, yet subtle, but I wrote it off to being away so long, being in a place that once familiar being a bit strange thru prolonged absence.
Coyotes yipping about 3:AM woke me to beautiful Northern Lights and for a minute I flashed back to Alaska, didnt know where I was.
Then I woke up hard, auroras are rare here, and between this and the odd feeling yesterday that the Sun wasnt right I got outta dodge fast as possible to get news.
Just a C3 CME, will probably cause some minor havoc with GPS, UHF, and maybe some worse pipeline havoc.
Weird coincidence with Mille, still trying to figure out what this means?
Shades of Fight Club, but I swear I dont know him off forum...

Astronauts forced to shut down part of International Space Station after cooling system failsThe crew members, who were asleep at the time, were roused by alarms about 8 pm on Saturday night and immediately set to work powering down equipment to prevent the sole remaining cooling loop from overloading. Welcome back you two. Very strange red sunrise Sunday morning. Others saw it too. Redder than that, and just the sun, the clouds and light looked 'normal' for the light clouds. Lasted till near 9AM too till the sun looked normal behind the cloud. This morning it was only red like that for 10 minutes after sunrise. Fire smoke? A C3 to hit tomorrow (August 3). More strange lights yet.
